What You Have Never Known About Cell Phones

By Josiah Talamas

Cell phones seem to change every day. There are OS upgrades, new apps and even new abilities with the phone itself. They look different, perform differently and even cost different amounts. That means you truly have to understand what the cell phone world offers, so check out the tips below.

When you are purchasing a cell phone in the store, make sure that you get your money's worth by haggling with the dealer. This does not work all of the time, but often you will get discounts that you can use on your phone or for applications that apply to your phone.

Debrand your phone if you want to increase the memory that you have. This means that you will remove all of the themes, logos and images of the company that it relates to, which will give you more ability to purchase ringtones and images from other providers of cell phone service.

Understand your cell phone plan. These plans can be rather complex between data allowances, total talk minutes, text messaging, and international rates. Before you accidentally blast through an allowance and get charged more, know what you can and can't do. This can save you a ton of money on the monthly bill.

If you have a smart phone, it is a good idea to turn it completely off every few days. It only takes a few minutes to power it down and then turn it back on. This will help clear your memory of unneeded data and make your phone run more optimally.

Don't be afraid to switch cell phone brands. While you may think you only know how to use one type of phone, you should keep your mind open. You may find another phone is more functional than what you're used to using.

Keep your phone close to a signal. Burying your phone in a purse or desk drawer can impact the signal strength. When the phone works harder to gain a strong signal, your battery life will drop. Keep the phone in a place where it can easily reach signal and you will keep your battery up.

Know the cell phone laws in your state when it comes to driving. In many states, it's illegal to text on a cell phone and drive. Even if it's technically legal in your state, it's still not a good idea. Many accidents occur due to text messaging. If you must communicate, call using a hands-free device or pull off the road to text.

Make sure your phone is protected. They may be expensive to replace or fix. Consider a screen protector to help prevent scratches. A sturdy case is also a good idea as it can protect your cell phone against impact.

Scroll through your cell phone directory and see which numbers you dial the most often or are the most important. Write or type out this short list, and keep it in your wallet or purse. Losing your cell phone can be bad enough, but losing all your phone numbers with it is even worse. This is especially true if you just left it at a friend's house and could find it in one phone call.

Do not stream movies or music on your phone. It eats up your data allowance. If you have to, connect to a WiFi location rather than using your data connection. This will still allow you to look or listen to the things that you want, but you will be able to do so for free instead of possibly incurring a large expense.

If you only use your cell phone with wi-fi in your home, then you may want to consider dropping that expensive data plan attached to your smart phone. Sure this isn't for everyone. But if you only use that phone for talking, then why pay the additional (and expensive) data costs?

Do you need to replace your outdated and old phone? Do you hate the idea of having to determine which phone to get? If this was you, then the information you know from reading this article should now help you do things differently from now on.
